Mesquite is a city located east of Dallas, Texas. Most of the city is located in Dallas County, though a small portion extends into Kaufman County. Mesquite has a total area of 46.2 square miles. The city of Mesquite was founded on March 14, 1878, on land along the Texas & Pacific Railway, which ran from Dallas to Shreveport, Louisiana. The locals then named the town after Mesquite Creek.

The senior centers offer a variety of leisure time activities, support services and educational opportunities for participants. The facilities are ADA accessible. Those 59 and under may purchase a meal for $5.50. Lunch is served Monday-Friday at Goodbar and Evans Recreation Centers 11:45 a.m.
