Keller is a suburban city in Tarrant County, Texas with a total area of 18.4 square miles. The Texas and Pacific Railway between Fort Worth and Texarkana was completed in June 1881, and the first train ran on this track on May 9, 1881, which ran parallel with parts of the old Chisom cattle drive trail. With the advent of rail service, new villages were established all along the line. The Keller of today was one of them. On July 19, 1881, H.W. Black, a druggist of Tarrant County, set aside 40 acres for a town site to be known as Athol but within a year the name of the town was changed from Athol to Keller, honoring John C. Keller, a foreman on the railroad.
The Keller Public Arts Program features a collection of 15 permanent sculptures, a rotating gallery display inside Keller Town Hall, an outdoor art-on-loan program in Old Town Keller and an annual schedule of events and concerts for the whole family.
Participation at the Keller Senior Activities Center is open to those age 55 or better, unless otherwise designated by the Senior Activities Center supervisor. Participants are required to complete the Member Registration Form before participating in activities.
The City of Keller has 336 acres of developed park land on 11 different sites. Keller parks are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Keller provides a number of events throughout the year featuring something for everyone from a community 5K race to symphony orchestra concerts.
